A Delicious Challenge!

I've been challenging myself a little bit lately in my color choice. It seems that everywhere I look, I see white. So I've been attempting to show all the values and colors that I see which make up the white. All challenges should be so delicious. I still have a few Oreo cookies left which shows my amazing restraint!!! This summer is a perfect time to enjoy the simple things in life!

Little By Little

I worked today to get Kristi's Mawmaw's face looking accurate. Then I lost my good lighting so had to quit for the evening. Makes me visualize my dream studio!

Kristi's Mawmaw

I'm getting set to work on a portrait for my friend Kristi. This painting will be of her grandmother. I love the fact that she's holding a chicken, love the shadow, love the primary colors, love the pleats in her skirt. I hope I can do this lady justice...she was an amazing person in Kristi's life!

Kristi took photographs of me and we had so much fun. She's a master at getting beautiful shots that capture the essence of the subject. Love her work. Check it out!

"Unhinged"

Unhinged
Oil on Canvas

What a beautiful day! Just finished working on my old hinges purchased at the Antique Mall. These were great fun to paint. I LOVED playing with the texture of the layers of peeling paint. This was like frosting a cake! Yummy. Hope you like it.

Inspiration

Hi Friends! Just pondering my latest painting. I found inspiration at The Antique Mall. I could live there! I picked up a couple of old hinges. They're pretty distressed, painted white, and for some reason just drew my eye. So, after playing around with the composition, just sat down to paint. I'm having a great time with the texture of the peeling paint. I also decided to add a splash of my favorite color, Prussian blue. Look for a pic by this weekend!
